Thai Word of the Day: “aawn-wawn” (อ้อนวอน)

“aawn-wawn” (อ้อนวอน) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to plead / to beg

The verb “aawn-wawn” (อ้อนวอน) is when we ask for something in an urgent or emotional way.

Examples:

“ga-rut-naa chuay phuak-rao duay,” kao aawn-wawn
“กรุณาช่วยพวกเราด้วย” เขาอ้อนวอน
(“Please help us,” he pleaded)

ter aawn-wawn hai kao yoo dtae kao han lang hai ter
เธออ้อนวอนให้เขาอยู่แต่เขาหันหลังให้เธอ
(She pleaded with him to stay, but he turned his back on her)

mai mee thaang thee ter ja aawn-wawn hai kao glab ma
ไม่มีทางที่เธอจะอ้อนวอนให้เขากลับมา
(There is no way that she will beg him to come back)
