Thai Word of the Day: “hak-lang” (หักหลัง)

“hak-lang” (หักหลัง) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to betray / to double-cross / to backstab

The verb “hak-lang” (หักหลัง) is when someone does something behind your back in order to harm us when we have trusted them.

Examples:

phuak-kao thuuk phoo-ruam-hun hak-lang
พวกเขาถูกผู้ร่วมหุ้นหักหลัง
(They were betrayed by the business partner)

chan mai keuy leuy kid waa kao ja hak-lang chan
ฉันไม่เคยคิดเลยว่าเขาจะหักหลังฉัน
(I have never thought he would betray me)

ter dtang-jai hak-lang chan dtang-dtae wan raek thee ter phob chan laeo
เธอตั้งใจหักหลังฉันตั้งแต่วันแรกที่เธอพบฉันแล้ว
(She intended to backstab me since the first day she met me)
