Thai Word of the Day: “hoo-bao” (หูเบา)

“hoo-bao” (หูเบา) can be used in the following ways:

adjective: is credulous / is naive / is gullible

The adjective “hoo-bao” (หูเบา) refers to someone who tends to believe things that people tell them easily and therefore easily tricked or deceived.

Examples:

kao bpen kon hoo-bao
เขาเป็นคนหูเบา
(He is naive)

khun yaa tham-dtua bpen kon hoo-bao
คุณอย่าทำตัวเป็นคนหูเบา
(Don’t act like a gullible person)

kao hoo-bao lae cheua kon ngaai
เขาหูเบาและเชื่อคนง่าย
(He’s gullible and easily believed other people)
