Thai Word of the Day: “tham hai sap-sun” (ทำให้สับสน)

“tham hai sap-sun” (ทำให้สับสน) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to confuse (someone)

The verb “tham hai sap-sun” (ทำให้สับสน) is used when someone makes someone else feel that they do not understand something. The person being made to feel confused is place between “tham hai” and “sap-sun”: “tham hai …. sap-sun)

Examples:

kao tham hai chan roo-seuk sap-sun
เขาทำให้ฉันรู้สึกสับสน
(He made me feel confused)

kam-phood kawng-kao tham hai ter sap-sun
คำพูดของเขาทำให้เธอสับสน
(His words made her confused)

tha khun mai a-ti-baai yaang-chad-jane, khun ja tham hai phoo-aan sap-sun
ถ้าคุณไม่อธิบายอย่างชัดเจนคุณจะทำให้ผู้อ่านสับสน
(If you don’t explain clearly, you will confuse the reader)
to make someone feel that they do not understand something
