Thai Word of the Day: “tham jai” (ทำใจ)

“tham jai” (ทำใจ) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to get over (something or someone)

The verb “tham jai” (ทำใจ) is used when we prepare our hearts to accept something bad that has happened to us in order to feel happy again.

Examples:

ter tham jai dai laeo
เธอทำใจใด้แล้ว
(She’s over it)

khun dtawng pha-yaa-yaam tham jai gio-gap reuang nee
คุณต้องพยายามทำใจเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้
(You must try to get over this)

kao tham jai mai dai thee thuuk pheuan rak kawng-kao hak-lang
เขาทำใจไม่ใด้ที่ถูกเพื่อนรักของเขาหักหลัง
(He can’t get over being betrayed by his best friend)
