Thai Word of the Day: “tham jai” (ทำใจ)

“tham jai” (ทำใจ) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to get over (something)

The verb “tham jai” (ทำใจ) is used for telling someone to stop worrying, complaining, or being upset about something.

Examples:

– phaan ma naan laeo, khun kuan tham jai dai laeo
(It has been a long time, you should have gotten over it by now)
– phom roo waa man mai yut-dti-tham, dtae khun ja dtawng tham jai
(I know it’s not fair, but you will have to get over it)
– bpen way-laa naan, kao tham jai mai dai waa ter sia chee-wid laeo
(For a long time, he could not get over that she was dead)
– phom leuhk gap faen gao bpee way-laa bpee gwa laeo, dtae phom yang tham jai mai dai
