Thai Word of the Day: “thum-thay” (ทุ่มเท)

“thum-thay” (ทุ่มเท) can be used in the following ways:

main verb: to dedicate / to devote (to doing something)

The verb “thum-thay” (ทุ่มเท) is used when we spend our time and effort doing something.

Examples:

– kao thum-thay tuk-yaang pheua ter
(He devotes everything to her)
– Andy thum-thay way-laa gap garn-tham-ngaan maak
(Andy dedicates much time to working)
– kao tham-ngaan nack lae thum-thay gap ngaan-wi-chai kawng-kao
(He is working very hard and dedicating to his research)
– kao thum-thay way-laa suan-maak kawng-kao hai gap garn-waad-roob kawng-kao
(He devotes most of his time to his painting)
– phoo-ying kon nee dai thum-thay chee-wid thang chee-wid kawng-ter pheua chuay-leua kon eun
