Thai Word of the Day: “beeb” (บีบ)

“beeb” (บีบ) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to squeeze

The verb “beeb” (บีบ) is to press something firmly with your hands; or to make someone tell you something or do something even though they do not want to.

Examples:

ter beeb cream lung-bon meu kawng-ter
เธอบีบครีมลงบนมือของเธอ
(She squeezed some cream onto her hands)

ter yim, beeb meu kawng-kao duay kwaam-rak
เธอยิ้มบีบมือของเขาด้วยความรัก
(She smiled, squeezing his hand affectionately)

ter pha-yaa-yaam bpen krang sud-taai pheua thee ja beeb kwaam-jing awk ma jaak kao
เธอพยายามเป็นครั้งสุดท้ายเพื่อที่จะบีบความจริงออกมาจากเขา
(She made one final attempt to squeeze the truth out of him)
