Thai Word of the Day: “dtaam-jai” (ตามใจ)

“dtaam-jai” (ตามใจ) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to pamper / to spoil / to agree with / to go along with / to please

The verb “dtaam-jai” (ตามใจ) is to agree to do something together with other people; or to always allow someone to have or do everything that they want. It’s literally “to go along with someone’s heart”.

Examples:

– dtaam-jai ter la gan
ตามใจเธอละกัน
(As you please / Up to you / Please yourself)

(khun) yak ja gin arai (chan) gaw dtaam-jai
คุณอยากจะกินอะไรฉันก็ตามใจ
(I’ll go along with whatever you want to eat)

chan a-nut-yaad hai ter tham dtaam-jai chawb
ฉันอนุญาตให้เธอทำตามใจชอบ
(I allow her to do as she pleases)

phaw-mae mak-ja dtaam-jai luuk kon sud-thawng
พ่อแม่มักจะตามใจลูกคนสุดท้อง
(Parents tend to spoil the youngest children)

man bpen wan Mae – bploi hai phuak-kao dtaam-jai khun teut!
มันเป็นวันแม่ – ปล่อยให้พวกเขาตามใจคุณเถอะ!
(It’s Mother’s Day – let them spoil you a little!)
