Thai Word of the Day: “huang-yai” (ห่วงใย)

“huang-yai” (ห่วงใย) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to care / to worry (about someone)

The verb “huang-yai” (ห่วงใย) is used when we have caring feelings toward that person, or when we worry about someone’s well-being and happiness because we love them.


kao huang-yai ter jing-jing
(He really cared for her)

chan roo-seuk huang-yai kao dtawn kao dtawng deuhn-thaang
(I feel worry when he has to travel)

chan wang waa sak-wan-neung chan ja mee krai-baang-kon thee huang-yai chan
(I hope that one day I will have someone who cares about me)

kao tham hai ter roo-seuk bpen kon thee pi-sade lae bpen thee huang-yai kawng-kao
(He makes her feel special and cared for)
