Thai Word of the Day: “len-dtua” (เล่นตัว)

“len-dtua” (เล่นตัว) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to play hard to get

The verb “len-dtua” (เล่นตัว) is used to when we pretend not be interested in someone who you we think is sexually attractive in order to make them more interested in us.

Examples:

ter chawb kao dtae ter kae len-dtua
เธอชอบเขาแต่เธอแค่เล่นตัว
(She likes him, but she’s just playing hard to get)

haa saa-hade waa tham-mai phoo-ying len-dtua
หาสาเหตุว่าทำไมผู้หญิงเล่นตัว
(Find out why women play hard to get)

khun mai jam-bpen dtawng len-dtua pheua hai dai phoo-chai
คุณไม่จำเป็นต้องเล่นตัวเพื่อให้ได้ผู้ชาย
(You don’t need to play hard to get to get a man)
