Thai Word of the Day: “phid-wang” (ผิดหวัง)

“phid-wang” (ผิดหวัง) can be used in the following ways:

adjective: is disappointed

The adjective “phid-wang” (ผิดหวัง) is when we feel unhappy because something that we hoped for or expected did not happen or because someone or something was not as good as we expected.

Examples:

khun roo-seuk phid-wang reuang arai?
คุณรู้สึกผิดหวังเรื่องอะไร
(What are you feeling disappointed about?)

chan roo-seuk phid-wang nai dtua-kao
ฉันรู้สึกผิดหวังในตัวเขา
(I feel disappointed in him)

ter phid-wang thee kao mai pha-yaa-yaam
เธอรู้สึกผิดหวังที่เขาไม่พยายาม
(She was disappointed that he never tried)
