Thai Word of the Day: “taeb-ja-mai” (แทบจะไม่)

“taeb-ja-mai” (แทบจะไม่) can be used in the following ways:

adverb: barely / hardly

The adverb “taeb-ja-mai” (แทบจะไม่) is used for saying that something almost doesn’t happen or exist, or for emphasizing that something happened only a very short time before something else.


man meud maak, chan taeb-ja-mai hen kao leuy
มันมืดมาก ฉันแทบจะไม่เห็นเขาเลย
(It was so dark, I could barely see him)

phuak-kao mee ngeuhn taeb-ja-mai phaw jaai kaa chaow deuan nee
