Thai Word of the Day: “thaa-thay” (ท้าทาย)

“thaa-thay” (ท้าทาย) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to challenge (something or someone)

The verb “thaa-thay” (ท้าทาย) is used when we are questioning whether something is true, accurate, or legal. Also used when we refuse to accept someone’s authority.


kao mai naa ja thaa-thay chan
(He shouldn’t have challenged me)

kao thaa-thay hai ter pi-suud waa man bpen reuang-jing
(He challenged her to prove that it’s the true)

phuak-kao kung-ja thaa-thay phuak-rao gio-gap raai-la-iad
(They are likely to challenge us on the details)
