Thai Word of the Day: “tham haai” (ทำหาย)

“tham haai” (ทำหาย) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to lose / to mislay (something)

The verb “tham haai” (ทำหาย) is used when we are unable to find something because we have lost it. The lost object is placed between “tham” (ทำ – to make / to do) and “haai” (หาย – is lost / is missing): tham + noun + haai

Examples:

khun tham ngeuhn haai thee-nai?
คุณทำเงินหายที่ไหน
(Where did you lose your money?)

khun tham man haai meua-rai?
คุณทำมันหายเมื่อไหร่
(When did you lose it?)

chan tham gra-bpaow haai. khun hen man mai?
ฉันทำกระเป๋าหาย คุณเห็นมันไหม
(I’ve lost my bag. Have you seen it?)

doo meuan waa phom dai tham jun-jae kawng-phom haai
ดูเหมือนว่าผมได้ทำกุญแจของผมหาย
(I seem to have mislaid my keys)
