Thai Word of the Day: “toi” (ถอย)

“toi” (ถอย) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to step back / to move back / to retreat / to back off

The verb “toi” (ถอย) is used for saying that someone is moving backwards from someone or from a situation in order to gradually become less involved in it.

toi awk bpai (ถอยออกไป) = move away / to move backward / to step back / to withdraw from
toi haang (ถอยห่าง) = to back away from / to back off from
toi glab (ถอยกลับ) = to turn back / to make a turn around
