Thai Word of the Day: “waet” (แวะ)

“waet” (แวะ) can be used in the following ways:

verb: to stop by / to drop by / to drop round (somewhere)

The verb “waet” (แวะ) is to make a short visit somewhere while on the way to somewhere else.

Examples:

kaa-glab, waet ma deum gaa-fae gap chan thee baan na
ขากลับ แวะมาดื่มกาแฟกับฉันที่บ้านนะ
(On the way back, please drop by for a coffee with me at home)

tham-mai khun mai waet ma haa chan gawn glab Ang-grit?
ทำไมคุณไม่แวะมาหาฉันก่อนกลับอังกฤษ
(Why didn’t you drop by to see me before going back to England?)

khun chuay waet thee raan seu nom hai chan noi dai mai?
คุณช่วยแวะที่ร้านซื้อนมให้ฉันหน่อยได้ไหม
(Can you stop by the shop and buy me some milk please?)
